Let us celebrate the Windrush 75th anniversary today by acknowledging the generations past, the generations present and the generations to come.

HMT Empire Windrush is best remembered today for bringing post-war Caribbean migrants to the United Kingdom which helped create the modern Britain that we share today.

Those who came between 1948 – 1971 were known as the Windrush Generation. Windrush Day has become a key symbolic moment in the story of the British Caribbean contribution to this country.

Morcea Walker MBE

Vice Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire

"Well done to everyone who arranged such a wonderful event celebrating those people who have given so much before so that others can now develop and build a brighter future. Today we celebrate the long history of the peoples who came to the UK in order to support its growth. This is a "long" period of time.

Councillor Sylvia Erskine

"What a wonderful time to remember 75 years of the Windrush. I am proud that Wellingborough took the time to honour this generation"

Tracey

"So glad I made the effort to be part of this historic anniversary. On their shoulders we stand."
